We are currently seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our team in Bath, UK, contributing to the UK QKD programme while supporting new and prospective projects and related activities.

Tasks and activities

  • Undertaking space systems engineering activities.
  • Managing and delivering complex software and networking systems projects.
  • Leading technical teams effectively.
  • Managing Stakeholder relationships.
  • Overseeing the development and writing of proposals, supporting sales in winning business.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Solid technical skills with experience working with complex software and networking systems.
  • Ability to take technical leadership of a team of engineers.
  • Capability to learn and understand complex systems.
  • Good communications skills with clients, partner organisations, and colleagues, including senior leadership, working in an international environment.
  • Sound knowledge of cyber security concepts and requirements.
  • Occasional travel to customer, company or partner’s sites in the UK and Europe.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Satellite communications knowledge.
  • Understanding of space system architectures and operations.
  • Use of MBSE tools such as SysML for system design.
  • Knowledge of operations of complex systems.
  • Understanding of optical communication systems.
  • Experience managing and writing proposals for commercial and institutional customers.
