We are currently seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our team in Bath, UK, contributing to the UK QKD programme while supporting new and prospective projects and related activities.
Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Undertaking space systems engineering activities.
- Managing and delivering complex software and networking systems projects.
- Leading technical teams effectively.
- Managing Stakeholder relationships.
- Overseeing the development and writing of proposals, supporting sales in winning business.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Solid technical skills with experience working with complex software and networking systems.
- Ability to take technical leadership of a team of engineers.
- Capability to learn and understand complex systems.
- Good communications skills with clients, partner organisations, and colleagues, including senior leadership, working in an international environment.
- Sound knowledge of cyber security concepts and requirements.
- Occasional travel to customer, company or partner’s sites in the UK and Europe.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Satellite communications knowledge.
- Understanding of space system architectures and operations.
- Use of MBSE tools such as SysML for system design.
- Knowledge of operations of complex systems.
- Understanding of optical communication systems.
- Experience managing and writing proposals for commercial and institutional customers.
