Starfyn Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND LSA for one of our clients based in Lambeth. The school caters for students with a variety of different needs, from complex physical disabilities, medical needs, speech and language difficulties, a range of learning difficulties, and has a further education unit for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Our client is looking for a dedicated member to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with healthcare professionals and help every child achieve their full potential. The working environment requires high expectations of learners. You would be working with an exciting curriculum, supporting the students to stay engaged and create a fun environment to learn in. The students at this school are between 4-19 years of age with Autism. The staff work together to promote a caring, positive, and professional environment for their students and use their enthusiasm and positivity to make the school a happy and exciting environment.
The Role
- Days Required – Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm (Fulltime)
- Pay – £85 – £90 per day (weekly pay)
- Employment Type – Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract)
To be considered for the role, the desirable candidate will have previous experience of working within a School, College or Provision. However, we will also consider candidates that have some of the following:
The Ideal Candidate will
- Have childcare experience – working with children and young people previously (working with children with SLD/PMLD/ASD is an advantage).
- Possess great interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine, caring attitude.
- Have personal care experience previously.
- Exhibit good communication and initiative driven.
- Have a creative, enthusiastic, imaginative and caring approach to children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities.
- Show a willingness to learn and have a genuine enthusiasm to make a difference.
Your Main Duties
- Offer support for the school's students before, during and after their lessons.
- Assist students with their understanding and participation in tasks.
- Help promote each student's love of learning.
- Actively participate in team meetings.
- Always follow the regulations pertaining to safeguarding.
- When required, support individual's needs, including assisting with a wide range of medical and occasionally personal care tasks and physical support where needed (Training will be provided in giving medical care and support).
- Work either on a 1:1 or group basis to support learning.
- Inspire and engage with children with a wide range of additional learning needs.
As an agency worker you are only paid for the days you have worked. Therefore, you will not be paid during the school holidays. We pay through an Umbrella provider and will uplift your daily rate to avoid you incurring any costs.
