STARD is an internationally recognized Austrian R&D specialist business unit of family-owned Stohl Group GmbH, with a focus on motorsport and high performance automotive vehicles, in-house test-track and 24 years of successful operation. We cover the whole process chain for entire vehicle development, assembly, testing, vehicle operation and racing completely in-house.
Our recently acquired very own proving ground and test track, which also includes an off-road area, is part of our new very well equipped company headquarter located right outside of Vienna, accessible with public transportation and just 15 driving minutes from the Vienna International Airport.
In addition to ICE and EV entire vehicle development, STARD’s focus also lies on following key areas:
- High performance FIA certified HV battery systems
- High performance Electric Drive Units (integrated and individual E-Motor, Inverter and transmission systems)
- Complete E/E systems for ground, aerial, and marine vehicles
- ICE-ECU and E-VCU software development and calibration
- Advanced Powertrain control strategies including 4WD torque vectoring systems
- Chassis and suspension systems
- Worldwide Racing activity (in very close collaboration with sister business unit “Stohl Racing”) including: Rally, Rallycross, Circuit Racing, Offroad, Special programmes (e.g. Pikes Peak, Nürburgring Laprecords…)

Job Description
Selection of associated activities include:
- Senior Mechanic in a team of up to 4 mechanics per car + Car Chief
- Initial builds of newly developed motorsport prototype cars
- Receive instructions from and report to Car Chief and Workshop Management
- Carry out small series production car builds (e.g. customer motorsport)
- On site race event vehicle preparation, service and post process responsibility
- Support Car Chief in coordination of spare parts, equipment and tools with logistics & purchase departments
- Processing car setup according to setup sheets
- Support Car Chief to ensure safe operation and optimized performance of race vehicles
- Support Car Chief in processing final pre-event and pre-delivery checks
- Generate, maintain, and apply work process documentation
Profile
- Master workman certification or equivalent education/experience, Level 1,2,3 HV training beneficial
- Extensive relevant multi-year Mechanic experience e.g.: Rally, Touring Car, Rallycross, GT, Cross Country
- Preferably high level of all vehicle systems knowledge and servicing skills (electrics, engines, drivetrain, suspension…)
- Welding skills (TIG, MIG…) beneficial
- Precise, responsible and organised working approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic MS Office knowledge (especially: word, excel)
- High flexibility in working hours if required (weekends, holidays, late hours), as typical in motorsport
- Able to work and to take critical decisions also under pressure (racing activity)
- Above average commitment and teamwork skills, as typical in motorsport
- Readiness to work also in rough environment (e.g. rally, rallycross, offroad-racing projects)
- Willingness to travel worldwide
- Trailer, truck, truck + trailer driving licenses beneficial (B-E, C, C-E)
- Good English skills (verbal & read/write) required

- Long-term full time permanent employment based in Austria, Vienna
- Initial temporary “Fly-in” option (Company owned modern Apartments available) possible
