The Product Owner is accountable for defining, delivering, and continuously improving StarCompliance’s SaaS-based regulatory compliance products. This role bridges business strategy, domain expertise, and agile delivery ensuring the right solutions are built, delivered, and adopted successfully. You’ll play a hands-on role in writing stories, leading sprint refinement, and driving a predictable release cadence. You’ll also act as a Subject Matter Expert, guiding cross-functional teams and clients through the complex world of regulatory compliance with confidence and clarity. Working closely with the Product Manager, you’ll ensure strategic vision translates into actionable backlog priorities, aligning execution with long-term product goals and maintaining transparency between business strategy and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agile Delivery & Release Cadence
    • Lead Release Planning, Refinement, and Review sessions to maximize team output and focus on value delivery.
    • Write clear, detailed user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria that align to business outcomes.
    • Maintain a well-refined backlog and proactively prepare upcoming work to support predictable releases.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, QA, and UX to ensure releases meet functional, technical, and compliance requirements.
  • Product Strategy & Execution
    • Translate business goals and regulatory needs into clear product roadmaps, by partnering with Product Management and client and market feedback.
    • Prioritize features based on business value, client impact, and compliance risk.
    • Manage scope, timelines, and delivery dependencies to ensure continuous product evolution.
    • Define and track key product metrics (e.g., time-to-market, adoption rate, release quality).
    • Contribute to quarterly and annual product planning cycles.
  • Domain Expertise & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in compliance technology, ethical conduct management, and/or financial regulation.
    • Partner with Sales, Solutions Engineers, and Relationship Managers to support demos, proposals, and client discussions.
    • Work with Professional Services and Customer Success to ensure implementation readiness and adoption success.
    • Translate regulatory changes and client feedback into prioritized backlog items.
    • Collaborate with internal Compliance SMEs to interpret new requirements and ensure ongoing regulatory alignment.
  • Customer Experience & Enablement
    • Represent the customer voice across teams, ensuring solutions are usable, intuitive, and impactful.
    • Develop and maintain user personas, workflows, and journey maps for target users.
    • Partner with UX to translate complex compliance tasks into efficient user experiences.
    • Support internal enablement by producing release documentation, demo materials, and feature briefings for go-to-market teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Governance
    • Foster a culture of agility, transparency, and data-driven decision-making.
    • Participate in retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives to refine team processes.
    • Ensure all product work aligns with data privacy, audit, and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain internal product documentation and knowledge-sharing assets.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of Product Owner or Product Management experience in SaaS or enterprise software, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum delivery practices, including backlog refinement and sprint management.
  • Proven ability to write actionable user stories and use cases.
  • Experience with STAR Compliance products and services a plus.
  • Experience working with or within regulatory compliance, ethics, or financial services technology.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with Sales, Professional Services, and Customer Success teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management across technical and business teams.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s a plus).
  • Professional certification (e.g., CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PO/PM) preferred.
  • Familiarity with compliance, ethics, or conduct risk regulations highly desirable.
