As a Buyer for Directs within our Supply Chain Operations team, you will play a key role in strengthening Starbucks’ supplier partnerships and shaping sourcing strategies that support our mission. You’ll use data, market insights, and strong commercial acumen to help us deliver exceptional quality, value, and innovation across key indirect spend categories.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop sourcing strategies for selected indirect spend categories.
  • Analyse complex market, cost, and supplier data to produce strategic recommendations.
  • Identify and utilise unique sources of market intelligence.
  • Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, cost modelling, and root cause analysis.
  • Manage end-to-end sourcing and supplier performance for your categories.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and execute contracts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing to optimise performance.
  • Build strong internal relationships across Supply Chain, R&D, Safety & Compliance, Finance, Marketing, Store Development, Legal, and Operations.
  • Support and lead aspects of cross-functional projects and programmes.
  • Influence peers and senior stakeholders with clear, insightful recommendations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills.
  • Advanced analytical capability and the ability to interpret complex data quickly.
  • Experience applying sourcing, procurement, or supply chain principles (minimum 3 years).
  • Knowledge of market analysis, category strategy development, supplier relationship management, and should-cost modelling.
  • Working understanding of contract management and procurement legal basics.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead and influence across functions and levels.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Oracle, BI tools, and PowerPoint.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build effective internal and supplier relationships.
