Job Description
Starboard Hotels have partnered with Goodman Masson on a retained basis in their search for a new CFO to lead their finance function.
The Company
Starboard Hotels is a family owned business with a portfolio of 21 hotels and 28 delivery restaurants, with independent non-branded and franchised hotels and restaurants under world leading brands such as Accor, IHG, Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and Yum.
The Role
Working closely with the MD and Chairman as part of the leadership team to provide strategic and financial guidance and to support the development and achievement of corporate business objectives. With the support of the Group Financial Controller and wider finance team, you will ensure all necessary controls, policies, and procedures are in place to ensure the sound financial management of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve the business profitability and assist with growth and expansion of the Group with a focus on sustainable cash flow development.
- Assist in the strategic growth of the company from improving current trading to further acquisitions.
- Develop and manage banking and accounting relationships.
- Leadership and control and development of the finance team.
- Develop and oversee the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and that the business is compliant with all financial and statutory requirements.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director and Operations Director on revenue forecasts.
- Support the appraisal of new hotel acquisitions and development opportunities.
- Ensure effective treasury and cash flow management.
- Oversee the monthly payroll and expenses cycle.
- Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers, including the management and further development of banking relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
- A proven track record within a senior finance role within hotels or a multi-site environment.
- Knowledge of banking and funding procedures and relationships with key funding partners.
- Experience of financial controls and improving processes and procedures.
- Commercial experience of supporting the development of organisational strategy and undertaking acquisition investment appraisals.
- Knowledge of franchise business models.
