Our client, a leading technology-driven organisation in the travel and hospitality sector, is seeking a highly organised Payments & Reconciliation Specialist to join their Finance Operations team on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover). This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth financial operations across payments, commissions, and settlements between customers, financial institutions, and global online platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile high-volume transactions across multiple channels, including bank receipts, credit cards, and online platforms.
- Match payments and collections (Direct Debit, Faster Payments, SEPA, ACH) against customer bookings and system records.
- Manage commission flows and reconcile self-billed invoices from third-party travel partners.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in booking, payment, and commission records.
- Process failed collections and update financial systems accordingly.
- Provide ad-hoc finance support and assist with cross-team queries as required.
About You
- 3+ years’ experience in billing, invoicing, and payment reconciliations within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a process-driven approach.
- Skilled in Excel, particularly using pivot tables and lookups to handle exceptions.
- Knowledge of ERP or finance systems.
- Exposure to international payment standards (UK Direct Debit, EU SEPA, US/Canada ACH) is advantageous.
- Added bonus if you have experience in travel, hospitality, or leisure sectors but not essential.
- Confident communicator, able to work independently and within remote, international teams.
- Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.
