My client is currently growing their QS department and are looking to recruit an Assistant QS who has good industry experience, but also wants to develop and grow at an exciting time for the team.
Permanent role: 08.00 - 16.30 Monday - Friday
Salary DOE (£29,000 - £37,000)
They are an extremely fast paced 24/7 Multi-Trade contracting firm based in their hometown of Paisley, operating mostly in Social Housing and also in private domestic homes.
As a 24/7 Reactive Repairs, Maintenance & Refurb company they deliver in excess of 2,500 jobs each month all on a KPI ranging from small type repairs to Voids. ALL works are pre determined through an agreed SoR with each customer - with exception of our private works estimated in normal manner at outset of enquiry.
The successful candidate will be fully responsible for the immediate review and subsequent immediate billing of their jobs that have been marked as completed. This role will in the main be evaluating the cost at the end of each completed job, where you will quickly analyse the cost of the job, compare it to its SoR and ensure all costs are fully covered within the agreed SoR - always ensuring they maintain cost profitability on every job.
For their private domestic jobs you will issue quotations. These works are plumbing and heating namely but consist also of Bathroom makeovers, Kitchen makeovers, Boilers, general plumbing, general electrical - and combinations of all. You are then responsible at completed stage of each job to invoice to that private customer.
The following reflects the main tasks associated with your role and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:
- Work with simPRO. For every single task you undertake for the company, each stage and element must be recorded and managed within simPRO.
- Understand how SoR work, a knowledge of SoR is hugely advantageous such as the M3NHF (National Housing Federation) SoR or similar.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, and equipment for private domestic works and also use the SoR to estimate for social housing customers when requested.
- Maintaining and updating simPRO diligently and effectively.
- Be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and more so Excel.
- Be able to demonstrate excellent customer service, numeracy skills and commercial awareness. You will attend regular customer meetings and present/discuss information and or agree on costs to ensure job profitability is maintained.
- Be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Have a proven ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common objective.
- Possess a good understanding of social housing and or private domestic type works.
- Decision Making and Problem Solving – Must demonstrate the ability to resolve problems and make accurate business decisions.
- Flexibility and Initiative – Must demonstrate a positive, flexible, and self-motivated attitude towards the company and the achievement of objectives.
- Work Completion – Must display the drive and determination to complete your work effectively, accurately and on time.
The Assistant QS will play a crucial role in the delivery of their company profitability that is determined in your speed but absolute accuracy of the weekly billing. Weekly Sales target is in place. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the current team of engineers, supervisors and managers.
