The Old John Peel offers a great opportunity for someone who wants to take on a well-backed, newly refurbished pub with plenty of potential.
The pub benefits from being one of several pubs found in an area of around 3,000 adults within a 20-minute walk. The customer base is a mix of tourists and a smaller local population. Located in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District, the Old John Peel enjoys a prime location opposite the Beatrix Potter visitor centre and beside the village’s main car park. With over 15 million day visitors to the Lakes each year, this high-footfall area offers excellent year-round trading potential.
The Old John Peel is available on our investment tenancy agreement. We’re carrying out a full internal refurbishment to enhance its character and bring out the feel of a traditional Lakes pub. Externally, we’re undertaking a sympathetic redecoration, with upgraded signage and improvements to the roof garden - including creating a new entrance to increase accessibility and appeal.
This rare opportunity to run a pub in the heart of Bowness would suit an experienced food-led operator looking to deliver great service in an unbeatable location. We’re always open to new ideas - what would you do to drive trade? If you’ve benefited from running or owning a pub business, we’d love to hear what experience you can bring.
The right operator for the Old John Peel will have extensive experience in hospitality businesses. They will have a clear vision for their food offer, team culture and guest experience, and can create a memorable Lakes pub environment for locals and visitors alike.
