The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We\’re expanding our Safety Servicing Team in regards to lifeboats, rescue boats, all davit system & release gear service and load testing

Star are now working with Cralog gaining ISO 23678 accreditation and the successful candidate will also be required to gain Cralog accreditation to continue this growth, supporting the development of this function within the business, maintaining the highest safety standards throughout their work.

This role involves regular travel and working offshore usually for short periods (1-2 weeks).

Duties will include…

  • Installation & Maintenance: Install, inspect, and service davit systems (gravity, hydraulic, electric, etc.).
  • Testing & Certification: Conduct load testing and ensure compliance with SOLAS, IMO, Flag State, and Class regulations. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and recommending solutions.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical faults in davit and winch systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain records, write service reports, and issue compliance certificates.
  • Safety Checks: Ensure that all life-saving appliances (LSA) associated with davits are operational and safe.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Addressing client concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Working with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.

The successful candidate will have…

  • Mechanical, hydraulic, or marine engineering background.
  • Familiarity with SOLAS, LSA Code, and IMO requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with lifeboat and rescue boat davits from manufacturers like Norsafe, Fassmer, Schat-Harding, Hatecke, etc.
  • Offshore Safety Training (e.g. BOSIET), if working on oil rigs.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and implement solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate repairs and inspections.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively planning jobs to ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available to meet customer expectations.
  • A willingness to travel / work aboard (90% of the role will involve travel and overnight stays).
  • Hold a FULL clean UK driving licence.
  • Seafarers Medical Certificate (or ability to gain one)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Word / Excel / Outlook
  • Cralog accreditation Level 1 or 2
  • Certifications such as:
    • Lifeboat & Davit Inspection/Service Technician
    • Basic/Advanced STCW training

Please be aware that this is a physically demanding role and involves working on vessels and offshore assets mostly in the UK with some overseas work. Successful candidates will be expected to be flexible to meet the demands of the customer in a fast-paced environment and adapt to business demands.
