Are you an experienced tradesperson with the technical breadth to take on more? We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Plus Operative to deliver high-quality repairs, maintenance and safety-focused work across STAR Housing homes.
The 'Plus' element recognises capability beyond your substantive trade - for example, an additional trade, designated safety inspections or Electrical Qualifying Supervisor duties where appropriately qualified and authorised.
What you'll be doing
• Carrying out repairs and maintenance in your substantive trade, plus additional work within your wider trade or technical competence.
• Diagnosing problems, planning jobs and organising materials, tools and equipment to support efficient first-visit completion.
• Completing inspections, testing, certification or Electrical Qualifying Supervisor duties where these form part of your deployment.
• Providing day-to-day guidance and support to Driver/Labourers and Apprentices working alongside you.
• Delivering a safe, compliant and respectful service in residents’ homes and keeping accurate job and follow-on work records.
What we're looking for
• A recognised trade qualification, apprenticeship or demonstrable equivalent competence in your substantive trade.
• Additional trade or technical competence relevant to the “Plus” element, with a clear understanding of the limits of your own competence and authorisation.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills, a safety-conscious approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer-service skills, including working respectfully in occupied homes and explaining work clearly.
• For Electrical Qualifying Supervisor appointments, the relevant EAS, BS 7671 and inspection/testing qualification requirements will apply.

STAR Housing manages homes on behalf of Shropshire Council and is committed to providing quality homes and vibrant communities. The role is based in Shrewsbury and involves regular travel between STAR Housing properties. Out-of-hours emergency work may be required in line with service needs and your competence and authorisation.
