Position; LGV Class 1 Depot Shunter Job type; Full time, permanent Pay; Hourly rates of pay Shift; Monday – Friday plus alternate Sunday Hours; 15:00 – Midnight Mon - Fri 15:00 – Midnight Sunday (Shifts average 8 – 10 hrs) Location; Staplehurst (Nr Marden, Kent) Well established transport company specialising in the overnight national distribution of temperature controlled fresh produce to wholesale fruit and vegetable markets.

We are looking to recruit a Class 1 depot shunter for our busy distribution facility in Staplehurst, Kent.

Duties include;

  • Conducting daily equipment checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage.
  • Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
  • Moving empty and loaded trailers / vehicles on and off of loading bays.
  • Liaising with the warehouse supervisors to ensure smooth and efficient vehicle loading / unloading.
  • Set / check / operate fridge units on trailers, refuel if required.
  • Maintain log of trailer movements / load sheets.
  • Monitoring servicing & MOT requirements of vehicles & trailers.
  • Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directives.
  • Observing & ensuring yard is in clean / tidy condition .

Qualifications/Requirements;

  • Possess valid LGV (C+E) Class 1 Licence.
  • Possess valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Possess valid Driver CPC Card.
  • Key Skills & experience;
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Effective team member demonstrating excellent work attitude who works well on their own initiative.
  • Willing to assist with loading / unloading if required.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Flexible to work hour in line with requirements of the business.

Occasional requirements to load / unload at local customer facilities, deliver / collect vehicles at dealer service locations.
