We are looking for a Revenue Accountant to support a growing finance and commercial team in processing and reporting cash and revenue across a portfolio of grid-scale battery storage assets. This role will be responsible for ensuring that revenue is accurately captured, reconciled with self-billing cash statements and reported on. The role combines strong technical accounting with commercial insight, offering exposure to trading arrangements, capacity markets and long-term revenue contracts within a fast-growing energy platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Accounting & Month-End
    • Lead month-end revenue processes, including postings, accrued income and balance sheet ownership
    • Ensure accurate accounting of all revenue streams (optimisation, ancillary services, capacity market and floor agreements)
    • Maintain strong financial control across the revenue cycle
  • Settlement, Reconciliation & Process Ownership
    • Reconcile revenue across optimiser (e.g. EDF), market operators (NESO), EMRS and internal systems
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in settlement, invoicing and data
    • Own and continuously improve revenue reconciliation and settlement processes
    • Support timely and accurate cash collection through clear understanding of revenue positions
  • Reporting & Insight
    • Support the commercial team to analyse performance vs budget for each of the revenue streams, developing a strong understanding of asset performance and trading drivers to explain revenue outcomes
    • Ensure consistency between commercial data, reporting outputs and financial results
  • Forecasting & Analysis
    • Support and contribute to revenue forecasting and budgeting processes
    • Work closely with the Commercial team to translate market activity into financial outcomes
  • Audit & Governance
    • Support external audit requirements relating to revenue, including preparation of audit deliverables and documentation
    • Ensure appropriate documentation and controls are in place across revenue processes

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Experience in power markets, BESS or an energy trading / optimisation environment
  • Strong understanding of revenue accounting, accruals and balance sheet management
  • Exposure to energy market mechanisms (e.g. capacity markets, EMRS, ancillary services) or a willingness to develop this quickly
  • Experience working with multiple data sources and reconciling complex datasets
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in how contracts and market dynamics drive revenue
  • Detail-oriented, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of who Elexon are or what a Capacity Market is

This is a 12 month FTC with the view of going permanent paying up to 75k with hybrid working on offer.
