Our client is a large, Private Equity-backed software and services organisation operating globally. The business is entering a phase of continued scale and operational maturity, supported by a sophisticated PE sponsor, with a focus on disciplined execution, robust reporting, and long-term value creation.

Role Summary

This is a senior operational finance leadership role with responsibility for “running the business” across all accounting and financial operations. Sitting as a key member of the finance leadership team, the role partners closely with the CFO, Board, and investors to ensure financial integrity, operational excellence, and readiness for ongoing transformation and future exit.

The position combines deep technical accounting expertise, strong controllership, and proven leadership in complex, multi-entity environments, alongside the ability to support transformation programmes and embed scalable, best-in-class finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end financial operations across multiple entities, including general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, intercompany, and treasury
  • Oversee group consolidation across international entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS / UK GAAP and internal policies
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, driving accuracy, efficiency, and ongoing cycle-time reduction
  • Ensure integrity of core SaaS metrics (including ARR, churn, deferred revenue) and alignment with financial reporting
  • Establish robust cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and treasury oversight
  • Act as the group’s technical accounting authority across revenue recognition, leases, and business combinations
  • Maintain audit readiness and oversee external audit processes, ensuring clean and timely outcomes
  • Design and embed a strong internal controls framework aligned to SOX-equivalent standards
  • Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing international finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
  • Support the build-out of shared services / centre of excellence models where appropriate
  • Partner closely with transformation leadership to ensure smooth transition and adoption of new finance systems and processes
  • Provide operational readiness and ownership as new systems and processes go live (ERP, billing, and automation)
  • Drive adoption of automation and AI within finance operations to improve efficiency and control
  • Engage with Private Equity stakeholders, providing high-quality reporting, insight, and support for investment decisions
  • Support M&A activity including due diligence, integration, and purchase price accounting

To Be Suitable

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
  • Proven leadership experience within a Private Equity-backed or high-growth environment
  • Strong technical accounting expertise across IFRS / UK GAAP, particularly in SaaS or recurring revenue models
  • Deep understanding of subscription-based financial metrics and reporting dynamics
  • Experience managing multi-entity, multi-country finance operations at scale
  • Track record of delivering best-in-class financial close processes and operational improvements
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite highly desirable) and finance transformation programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, geographically distributed teams
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging at Board and investor level

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity within a sophisticated, PE-backed environment, offering the chance to shape and scale finance operations within a complex, international business. The role provides significant visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to play a critical part in the organisation’s ongoing growth and value creation journey.
