We are working with a high-growth, global business in the insurance sector that is looking to appoint a Head of Technology to take responsibility for the strategic IT agenda in the UK. This is a senior leadership position for a key region, sitting on both the local leadership team and the global IT leadership team. The role offers the opportunity to leverage proprietary technology and data to drive innovative, high-quality client outcomes, as well as deliver exceptional technology capability for colleagues. This is a highly visible position, representing the wider technology function and driving both transformation and operational performance agendas. It provides the opportunity to influence product direction, customer outcomes, and the long-term technology roadmap, while delivering tangible change across IT, data, and AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Represent technology within executive forums to drive business performance
- Act as the escalation point for complex technology issues across enterprise IT, product, and transformation teams
- Oversee the local product roadmap, ensuring alignment with local commercial imperatives and wider technology goals
- Support the reduction of technical debt and the migration from legacy tools to strategic platforms, driving adoption across internal teams and clients
- Work with third-party partners to ensure service goals are met, and that the wider technology function delivers effectively for the business, maintaining operational performance, resilience, and compliance within the digital ecosystem
- Partner with business stakeholders to realise measurable benefits from transformation initiatives
- Support client audits and maintain adherence to data, security, and regulatory standards
- Enable stakeholders to leverage data for market insight and performance management
Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a senior technology leader within the insurance sector (sector experience is essential)
- Significant track record of success in a matrixed or shared-service technology environment, including experience working with outsourced operations
- Strong influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive and C-suite levels
- Experience leading large-scale technology transformation programmes and platform migrations
- Background in complex operational technology environments, with the ability to operate both strategically and in detail
- Strong commercial awareness, including involvement in client tenders and value proposition development
- Experience aligning business units with group-wide technology strategy and transformation objectives
- Deep understanding of Agile delivery frameworks
- Experience leveraging enterprise data platforms and business intelligence tools to drive business performance
