Stanton House is currently partnering with a housing association that is undergoing key financial and operational changes, including updates to IFRS102 to align with IFRS for lease accounting and revenue recognition. The sector is also implementing a new draft SORP, presenting additional challenges for revenue and statutory reporting.
The Finance Controller will play a key role in ensuring the finance function remains well-controlled, efficient, and compliant, with a target of achieving a five-day month-end close.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the finance function, providing guidance and oversight to a small team.
- Ensure accurate and timely statutory and management reporting.
- Oversee audit planning and execution, liaising with external auditors.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Supervise pension administration, VAT compliance, and partial exemption reporting.
- Drive improvements in documentation and consolidation processes.
- Maintain operational excellence within the finance team, fostering efficient and robust processes.
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Strong experience in housing associations or non-profit / regulated sectors.
- Proficient in FRS 102 accounting standards, with exposure to IFRS alignment.
- Demonstrated expertise in audit, reconciliations, VAT, pensions, and consolidation.
- Experience managing a small finance team, with focus on operational efficiency.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
