We are partnering with a well-established international financial services organisation to appoint a Financial Controller for its UK and wider regional operations. Following a period of organisational change and the successful restructuring of the finance function, the business is seeking a high-calibre finance leader to take ownership of a broad controllership remit and lead a growing team across multiple jurisdictions.
This is a key leadership position within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment, offering significant visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence finance operations during an exciting stage of growth and development. Reporting to a senior finance leader, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial control activities across the UK and selected international locations.
The role carries responsibility for leading a multi-layered team, driving best practice, strengthening processes, and ensuring high-quality financial reporting and governance. This is a broad controllership position rather than a specialist regulatory role. While an understanding of financial services regulation is beneficial, the successful candidate will be expected to work alongside subject matter experts rather than lead technical regulatory matters directly.
- Lead and develop a finance team of approximately 10 people across two management layers
- Directly manage four team leaders covering areas including financial reporting, transactional finance and specialist business control functions
- Maintain ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes
- Ensure strong financial controls, governance and risk management frameworks are in place
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, systems and team structures
- Partner with senior stakeholders across finance and the wider business
- Oversee finance operations across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on the UK market
- Mentor and develop a relatively junior team, creating a high-performance and collaborative culture
Big 4 trained and/or audit background highly desirable. Previous experience operating as a Financial Controller or within a senior controllership leadership role. Experience leading larger finance teams and managing managers. Strong financial reporting and controls experience. Financial services experience preferred, although broader regulated or complex environments will also be considered. Demonstrable track record of building, developing and motivating teams.
Target bonus of 15% with potential to exceed target performance levels. Competitive benefits package. Long-term career development opportunities within an international financial services business.
