Finance Business Partner required for a large UK Construction Group (Hybrid – 3 days in the office) £70,000 – £80,000 + bonus + excellent benefits.
We are partnering with a well-established and highly regarded large construction and infrastructure business operating across multiple regions in the UK. With a strong project pipeline and ambitious growth plans, the business plays a key role in delivering complex, high-value construction programmes across commercial, residential, and infrastructure sectors. Finance is central to driving performance, controlling risk, and supporting strategic decision-making.
As Finance Business Partner, you will support a major operational division, working closely with senior operational, commercial, and project teams to provide financial insight, challenge performance, and drive profitable growth across a large portfolio of construction projects.
Reporting into the Senior Finance Leadership team, you will act as a trusted commercial partner, providing forward-looking insight, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring robust financial control across your business area.
Key Requirements:- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong background in business partnering, commercial finance or FP&A within construction, engineering or project-based environments
- Proven project accounting experience within a contract or project-led business
- Proven experience partnering with operational and site-based teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to challenge and influence at senior level
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
- Experience with long-term contracts, WIP, cash flow and cost/value reconciliations desirable
- Act as a strategic finance partner to senior operational and commercial stakeholders
- Lead financial reporting and performance analysis for a portfolio of construction projects or a major business unit
- Partner with project teams on profitability, cost control, margin protection and forecasting
- Manage budgeting and rolling forecast processes, ensuring accuracy and accountability
- Deliver robust variance analysis with clear actions to improve performance
- Provide strong oversight of cash flow, WIP, revenue recognition and project risks
- Support tenders, bids and investment appraisals with high-quality financial input
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, controls and financial processes
