Stanton House is recruiting an experienced Interim Financial Controller for a PE-backed business in Bournemouth. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional with a strong technical background, capable of ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all day-to-day finance operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and banking.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, and board packs.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support business performance and strategic planning.
  • Mentor and manage a small finance team, ensuring smooth workflow and development.
  • Contribute to systems and process improvements to increase efficiency and automation.
  • Support M&A, refinancing, or transformation projects as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a similar interim or contract Financial Controller role.
  • Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS/UK GAAP).
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Experience in private equity-backed or growth-stage businesses is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Hands-on, solutions-focused, and commercially aware.
