Head of Finance required for The Women’s Professional League in London!
Stanton House has been exclusively retained to hire for the Women’s Professional League as they look to build their Finance team. The Head of Finance will be the first key hire into the team and will be responsible for creating the roadmap for Finance.
As the Head of Finance, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Business Management team to ensure an effective transition from The FA processes and system to establishing independent, efficient and effective processes for the Women’s Professional League. In this position, you will manage the financial strategy, operations, and reporting functions, ensuring effective governance and efficiency in financial matters.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and establish an effective internal framework for the organisation, ensuring that financial controls and considerations are central to business decision-making processes
- Ensure the availability of high-quality management data to facilitate optimal decision-making, including generating monthly management accounts, cash flow statements, and balance sheets
- Lead the planning cycle’s ownership and development, accountable for the entire process, from setting timelines to finalising scope, merging outcomes, reviewing, and drafting financial documents for shareholders and the board
- Evaluate financial data for internal and external presentation and engage with key stakeholders to guide decision-making and growth for the leagues and the sport
- Monitor and report on financial target achievements and investment returns
- Coordinate the annual external audit process
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
- Proven experience of setting up a finance function or processes from scratch
- Track record of full P&L ownership
- Experience in business partnering at an executive level within a dynamic commercial environment
- A proactive communicator who can simplify financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders
- Proven leadership abilities to inspire and develop a team while managing competing priorities effectively
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to craft compelling presentations for stakeholders up to Board level
