Group Finance Controller required for a private equity–backed pharmaceutical group (Hybrid – near Staines)
£90,000 – £100,000 + bonus + benefits
We are working with a mid-sized, private equity-backed pharmaceutical group operating in a complex, multi-entity environment. The organisation focuses on niche and vital medicines across multiple therapeutic areas and has a well-established finance function that plays a critical role in governance, performance management, and strategic decision-making.
As Group Finance Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing group financial control, reporting, and planning. The role brings together management reporting, statutory reporting, product cost accounting, and financial planning, ensuring consistent, accurate, and high-quality financial information across the organisation.
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will lead a small finance team and work closely with global stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous improvement across finance processes. You will also support strategic initiatives including budgeting, forecasting, and M&A activity.
Key Requirements:
- Chartered accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong experience in group financial control and reporting within a complex or multi-entity environment
- Solid background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including statutory reporting and revenue recognition
- Proven people leadership and stakeholder management experience
- Comfortable operating at senior leadership level
- Experience improving finance systems, processes, or controls desirable
- Experience within the pharmaceutical or private equity-backed sector advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
- Ownership of group financial reporting, including management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Oversight of monthly close, reconciliations, and intercompany accounting
- Leadership of budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term planning processes
- Management of statutory reporting, audit processes, and regulatory compliance
- Oversight of product cost accounting and inventory valuation
- Leadership and development of the finance reporting team
- Production of reporting for senior leadership, Board, and governance forums
- Driving improvements across financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controls
- Acting as a finance business partner to stakeholders across R&D, supply chain, and regulatory teams
The role is offered on a hybrid working basis (typically three days per week on site near Staines) within a collaborative finance leadership team.
