Reporting into senior finance leadership, you’ll take ownership of global payroll delivery while leading a major payroll provider consolidation programme. This contract suits someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments, enjoys untangling complexity, and can bring structure, control and pace to global payroll operations.
This role goes beyond day‑to‑day payroll delivery. You will play a central part in:
- Managing payroll for approximately 2,000+ employees globally
- Leading a global payroll team
- Driving the transition from multiple regional payroll providers to a single global solution
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a global payroll transformation programme, consolidating 14+ regional payroll vendors into one global provider
- Taking ownership of payroll provider change, including implementation, data migration, parallel runs, risk management and go‑live support
- Designing and embedding a scalable global payroll operating model suitable for a rapidly growing organisation
- Driving HRIS‑to‑payroll integrations to improve automation, efficiency and control
- Acting as the subject‑matter owner for payroll data across systems such as Workday and payroll platforms (e.g. CloudPay or similar)
- Leading and supporting a globally distributed payroll team, providing direction and hands‑on expertise
- Managing highly complex payroll scenarios including shadow payroll, tax equalisation, global mobility and share‑based compensation
- Ensuring compliant payroll delivery across multiple jurisdictions, including managing payroll and employment tax audits
- Owning monthly payroll sign‑off across regions, ensuring accuracy, controls and deadlines are consistently met
- Supporting year‑end processes, salary review cycles, bonus and commission runs
- Ensuring accurate payroll accounting, GL postings and balance sheet reconciliations
- Providing audit and reporting support to Finance stakeholders
- Staying up to date with changes in international payroll, employment tax and regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience delivering multi‑jurisdictional payroll in a global environment
- Proven experience managing a change of payroll provider, including consolidation of multiple vendors
- Background in fast‑growth tech, fintech or similarly complex international organisations
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of global payroll operations, controls and compliance
- Experience with Workday and global payroll platforms (CloudPay or similar highly desirable)
- Exposure to global mobility, shadow payroll, tax equalisation and equity‑related payroll
- CIPP qualification or equivalent professional payroll certification
- A delivery‑focused, solutions‑oriented mindset with the confidence to operate autonomously
- Ability to work at pace, manage stakeholders, and lead through change
