The business operates across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions, within a regulated environment, and is focused on strengthening group-wide financial control, reporting discipline and treasury oversight to support ongoing growth.
Role summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Group Financial Controller will take ownership of the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all group financial reporting. This is a senior leadership role at the centre of the finance function, with responsibility for management accounts, statutory reporting, treasury, regulatory capital, safeguarding and tax. The role plays a critical part in supporting executive and board decision-making while ensuring robust financial governance across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end production of monthly group management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and high-quality commentary for executive and board reporting.
- Lead and continuously improve month-end and year-end close processes across all entities and jurisdictions.
- Oversee group treasury activities, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, banking relationships and funding requirements.
- Maintain oversight of regulatory capital and safeguarding frameworks, ensuring compliance with all regulatory reporting and filing deadlines.
- Direct the group financial control function, ensuring balance sheet integrity, effective reconciliations and resolution of technical accounting matters.
- Provide leadership and oversight of European finance operations, ensuring alignment with group standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate all statutory audits across the group.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP and relevant regulatory reporting obligations.
- Oversee all group tax matters, including corporate tax, VAT, R&D tax claims and transfer pricing across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead, develop and mentor high-performing finance teams across financial control, treasury and regional finance functions.
To Be Suitable
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency group environment with strong management accounts ownership.
- Deep expertise in financial control, balance sheet management and technical accounting.
- Experience of treasury operations, regulatory capital and safeguarding within a regulated financial services context.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams across multiple locations.
- Excellent working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and UK regulatory reporting requirements.
- Solid understanding of UK corporate tax, VAT, R&D tax relief and transfer pricing principles.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to translate financial information into clear, actionable insight.
- Experience in payments, e-money, banking or other regulated financial services environments is advantageous.
- Exposure to finance transformation, systems change or process re-engineering programmes is desirable.
