Financial Controller Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time South Yorkshire (Hybrid β 3 days in office, 2 days remote) Salary: Β£70,000 - Β£85,000 + Bonus With a strong recurring revenue model, established customer base, and ambitious growth plans, the business is now seeking its first dedicated senior finance leader to build the financial infrastructure, reporting capability, and controls required to support institutional ownership and future scale. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with investor stakeholders, the Financial Controller will lead both the day-to-day finance function and a significant finance transformation programme. This is a hands-on role suited to an individual who enjoys building from the ground up establishing robust reporting, forecasting, systems, controls and SaaS metrics whilst ensuring strong financial governance and operational delivery. Finance Transformation Design and implement a private equity-standard management information pack, including financial performance, profitability, cash flow and operational metrics. Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and improve short-term cash visibility. Develop integrated long-range financial models, including scenario planning and board-level forecasting. Establish and embed a SaaS KPI framework covering recurring revenue, retention, churn, contract value and profitability metrics. Implement appropriate revenue recognition policies for a recurring revenue business. Design and strengthen financial controls, policies and governance processes. Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reporting quality. Financial Reporting & Control Own the month-end close process and deliver accurate, timely management accounts. Coordinate statutory accounts preparation and manage external advisers. Monitor working capital performance, including cash conversion, invoicing, collections and deferred revenue. Lead the selection and implementation of a cloud-based finance system to replace legacy platforms. Define system requirements, manage implementation projects and ensure successful adoption across the business. Ensure finance systems support investor reporting, scalability and automation objectives. Prepare board and investor reporting packs with clear commercial insight. Partner with senior leadership on pricing, investment decisions, resource planning and growth initiatives. Support future fundraising, acquisitions and strategic projects through financial analysis and modelling. Mentor and develop existing finance team members. Support the growth and evolution of the finance function as the business expands. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post-qualified experience. Strong technical accounting and financial control expertise. Demonstrable experience building or materially improving finance functions within growing businesses. Advanced financial modelling capability, including forecasting, scenario planning and cash flow management. Experience within SaaS, software, technology or other recurring revenue business models. Track record delivering ERP implementations and finance systems improvements. Hands-on, pragmatic and capable of balancing operational delivery with transformation activity. Previous private equity or investor-backed experience is advantageous.
