The Web Developer role will be within our highly successful Water UK & I Digital Solutions team. You’ll be working alongside an award-winning team of technology experts driving digital change across Stantec and our clients. We are user-focused, pushing new ways of working through digital approaches, whilst incorporating technology and data into our services and solutions. Your input into the digital solutions will be fundamental to Stantec’s ongoing growth and success. As part of a global team, you will help to develop newer and enhanced services and products for our clients. The solutions you build will enable proactive management of assets and more informed investment planning.
What You’ll Do
- You’ll be part of a collaborative, global team focused on building scalable, user-centric web applications. Your responsibilities will include:
- Development & Deployment
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications and backend infrastructure using Python
- Participate in the full development lifecycle - from requirements gathering to deployment - within Microsoft Azure
- Implement CI / CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Collaboration & Quality
- Work closely with developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, web-based solutions
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring robust and reliable performance
- Innovation & Growth
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in web development
- Contribute ideas to improve user experience, scalability and maintainability
What We’re Looking For
- Essentials:
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks
- Experience with Python web technologies, especially Django
- Understanding of responsive design and user experience best practices
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and deployment environments
- Experience working with APIs and IoT integration
- Strong grasp of programming concepts and web development principles
- Good awareness of designing and deploying code securely
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Desirable:
- Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, GCP, or AWS
- DevOps tools: Azure DevOps
- Agile methodologies and sprint-based development
- Data visualization libraries: Leaflet, Plotly
- Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Data visualisation libraries: Maplibre, Deckgl, Leaflet and Plotly
- 3D visualisation and interactive graphics: Cesium, Unreal, ThreeJS
- UX / UI design: Figma, wireframing and mock-ups
