The Opportunity

Help shape the future of hydropower and dams! We are delivering some of the world’s most ambitious and innovative hydropower and dam projects, supporting the transition to sustainable energy and resilient water infrastructure. As our success continues to drive growth, we are looking to connect with experienced Civil Engineers who bring expertise in hydropower or pumped storage schemes and want to be part of this exciting journey. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding multidisciplinary team, contributing to landmark projects such as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales, while also supporting UK water clients with dam development, inspection, and remediation works. You will play a key role in shaping infrastructure that has lasting environmental and societal impact.

About The Role

As a Civil Engineer within our Hydropower & Dams team, you will be involved across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting delivery from early‑stage concept design through to detailed design, construction, and operational support. Working collaboratively with project managers, technical leaders, and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to delivering well‑integrated engineering solutions across complex dam and hydropower schemes. Your role will span a variety of responsibilities, including advisory work, Owner’s Engineer roles, client‑facing concept design, contractor‑facing detailed design, and support for installation, remediation, and troubleshooting activities. You will also contribute to due diligence, lender’s engineer services, and insurance‑related assessments, providing valuable insight into project risk, performance, and design integrity. This is a varied and technically rewarding role that offers exposure to both UK and international projects.

Your Impact

In this role, you will contribute directly to the design and delivery of critical water and energy infrastructure that supports both renewable energy generation and long‑term water resource management. Your engineering expertise will help shape safe, efficient, and sustainable dam and hydropower solutions, ensuring they meet the highest technical and regulatory standards. By working across multiple project phases and supporting both advisory and delivery functions, you will help clients make informed decisions and navigate complex engineering challenges. Your ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams will be key to developing integrated solutions that balance civil, structural, geotechnical, and M&E considerations. Through your work on both new‑build and existing assets, you will also play an important role in improving the safety, resilience, and performance of infrastructure over time. Ultimately, your contribution will support the delivery of projects that generate clean energy, manage water resources effectively, and create lasting value for communities.

About You

You are an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for working on hydropower, dams, or related infrastructure projects. You bring a collaborative mindset and a desire to contribute to impactful, sustainable engineering solutions.

You Will Bring

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the ICE, or progress towards this
  • Experience in the civil design of dams, hydropower, or pumped storage schemes, or related hydraulic structures (e.g. spillways, culverts, channels, bridges, stilling basins)
  • A strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery and how civil engineering integrates with structural, geotechnical, and M&E disciplines
  • Experience producing technical specifications, designs, and engineering reports
  • Ideally, experience delivering designs for both client‑side and design & build (D&B) projects
  • Confidence working within 3D design environments and Common Data Environments (CDEs)

Most importantly, you will embody a client‑focused approach, value collaboration, and be committed to delivering high‑quality engineering solutions that support sustainable development and benefit communities.
