Are you an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with experience in the energy sector? The Energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation due to increasing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets, and technological innovations. If you’re passionate about making a difference, join our industry-leading Energy team and be part of the change! We are interested in speaking with talented Senior Protection & Control Engineers.
Being part of our P&C team gives exciting opportunities to work on a variety of projects across multiple technical disciplines with clients nationwide. Projects may include HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, and connection schemes. As a P&C Engineer, you will get to collaborate with a passionate team of like-minded engineers on projects up to 400kV. You will take projects from concept through detailed design and support them during construction and energisation. Ideally, you will have experience working with key T&D clients in the UK. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to work on projects focused on innovation, standardisation, technology assessment, and collaboration with our suppliers on new products and services. You will join a growing and collaborative team, partnering with various clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. Your Role
- Develop scoping documentation and Main Connections & Protection Diagrams.
- Review Protection & Control Designs developed by third parties.
- Specify P&C related equipment and plant such as relays, CTs, and VTs.
- Produce detailed designs including AC/DC schematics.
- Conduct protection grading studies, produce relay files and settings.
- Review Commissioning Plans and attend Commissioning Panel meetings.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience working on Distribution Networks as a Protection & Control Design Engineer.
- Knowledge and experience with protection relays and relay panels, CT & VT sizing calculations, protection grading studies, and producing detailed AC/DC drawings.
- Familiarity with UK electrical practices and standards and an understanding/appreciation of CDM regulations.
- High regard for safety with demonstrable experience in risk mitigation.
- Ideally, experience working with National Grid processes.
