Overview
Senior / Principal Marine Water Quality Modeller role at Stantec. The opportunity is to join a multidisciplinary team on exciting projects across the UK and globally, focusing on coastal and estuarine environments. The role may be based at any of Stantec\’s UK offices.
Responsibilities
- Scope, data collection, development, execution, and presentation of multidimensional environmental water quality models.
- Model systems that simulate the behaviour of reservoirs, lakes, transitional and coastal waters.
- Identify pollution sources, pathways, and impacts on sensitive receptors; develop engineered and nature-based solutions.
- Work within a core team of scientific and engineering experts, supporting clients primarily in the water sector and also in energy and infrastructure sectors.
About You
You will have extensive experience in 2D / 3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling and either attainment or working towards chartered membership in a relevant professional institution. As an experienced professional, you are expected to work independently with minimal supervision. Key qualifications and experience include:
- A good understanding of numerical modelling equations and discretisation; 2D mesh generation.
- Experience using numerical modelling software such as MIKE, Delft3D, and Telemac, with proven applications in hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection-dispersion, water quality, and chemical processes.
- Ideally, a basic understanding of physicochemical water quality and a good understanding of oceanography and regulatory standards for fresh and/or marine waters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, including clients and other professional staff across multidisciplinary groups.
