We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic Principal or Senior Principal Contaminated Land and Groundwater Specialist to join our Energy & Resources Group in Warrington, Manchester or Shrewsbury. This position offers the right person a great opportunity to take up a key role in a strong, growing, collaborative team in delivering high-quality services, providing superior client service on major projects and developing new business.
Our team provides contaminated land, hydrogeological and ground engineering services to the energy and resources sector. We work holistically across these disciplines to provide high-quality, value-driven services that support energy transition and contribute to a range of local and national projects and frameworks to support the development of critical infrastructure across the UK and Ireland. Our team also supporting internal environmental and engineering teams in the water, community development and transportation sectors.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Tertiary qualifications (B.Sc.) in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, or related discipline. M.Sc. qualifications preferred but not required.
- You should be chartered or actively working towards chartership with a recognised professional body and additional post-chartership accreditations are highly valued.
- Relevant experience in groundwater studies applied to contaminated site management and remediation, preferably within a consulting environment.
- Experience designing, managing, and supervising ground investigations, groundwater sampling, interpreting soil, groundwater, and gas data, and producing comprehensive risk assessments and reports.
- Proven experience in delivering projects within programme and budget
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and people management skills.
- Interest in providing technical leadership to junior team members.
Depending on your experience, day to day tasks may involve:
- Scoping and managing field investigations in support of contaminated site and hydrogeology studies including drilling, well construction, and testing oversight; groundwater sampling; and water level monitoring.
- Scoping, performing, interpreting and reporting aquifer tests,
- Developing conceptual, analytical, and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models.
- Preparing high-quality technical reports and communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Coaching and mentoring of junior staff on field techniques, data analysis and reporting.
- Business development through proposal writing and technical contributions to the energy & resources business strategy.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships through the delivery of high-quality work and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
- The position is primarily office-based but some travel is expected and you must be willing to travel to UK offices and project sites and hold a full, clean UK driving license.
