We seek an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join our team and work on various projects across different sectors. You will work closely with the Principal Ecologist and help build a team that shares our vision of innovation, scientific research and a forward‑thinking approach to biodiversity.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support the Ecology Team.
- Maintain existing partnerships with water utilities.
- Pursue new opportunities and aid the lead ecologist in expanding our client base.
- Manage complex ecological issues within a project context.
- Conduct ecological surveys and assessments.
- Design and implement mitigation and enhancement measures.
- Apply for and obtain protected species licences.
- Mentor junior staff and help develop their ecological skills.
- Participate in training and networking events.
About You
- Hold a minimum BSc degree in ecology or a related environmental discipline.
- Have worked within a consultancy or similar environment.
- Possess a deep understanding of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy.
- Experience conducting detailed assessments such as PEAs, ECIAs, ecological chapters, and contributing to HRAs.
- Familiarity with UKHab classification and the Defra Metric is essential.
- Possess a protected species survey licence for at least one species (e.g., great crested newt, bats).
- Experience with protected species licensing.
- Experienced in managing projects, budgets and client relationships.
- Strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills are essential.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.
Ideally You’ll Also Have
- Membership of CIEEM, IEMA or similar.
- Proven experience in line management.
