As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Principal Process Engineer for future opportunities within our Energy & Resources team. This role would ideally be based in Redditch, Newcastle, Birmingham or Manchester, and offers the chance to contribute to some of the most exciting and impactful projects in the sector.

You will join our Waste & Generation team, working across a diverse portfolio that includes conventional EfW plants, district heating networks, gasification schemes, hydrogen generation projects and multiple biogas facilities. This is your opportunity to help shape the engineering solutions that will power a more sustainable future.

Responsibilities
  • Providing technical leadership across multi‑disciplinary project teams
  • Leading digital delivery strategies, from process modelling and mass balances to P&IDs
  • Using appropriate software tools to develop solutions and ensure successful project outcomes
  • Managing project scope, risk, budgets and team performance
  • Mentoring and coaching process engineers to support their professional growth
  • Supporting safe design practices and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in HSE
  • Collaborating with clients both on‑site and remotely to ensure alignment and successful delivery

You will play a central role in shaping project direction, driving technical excellence and ensuring that our solutions deliver real value for clients and communities.

Your work will directly influence how energy is generated, recovered and utilised across the UK and beyond. By leading the development of sustainable process solutions, you will help clients transition to cleaner technologies, optimise performance and reduce environmental impact. You will guide teams through complex engineering challenges, ensuring that designs are safe, efficient and future‑ready. Your leadership will help elevate the capability of our process engineering community, supporting the next generation of engineers as they grow into world‑class specialists. In a sector where innovation and sustainability are essential, your impact will extend far beyond individual projects, contributing to the wider transformation of the energy landscape.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline, with experience in the energy, water, or broader process industries. Experience across both would be highly valued. You must also be a member of a relevant engineering institution such as IChemE.

You will bring:
