Do you have a passion for engineering and a desire to make a real difference? At Stantec, we're excited to be supporting major regulated water frameworks across the UK, tackling the major issues facing the industry and driving innovation in everything we do. As we look to continue delivering our first-class solutions to clients, we're seeking engineering Design Leads (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering) that are interested in supporting a wide variety of exciting work across the regulated water industry. With AMP8 already underway, we have opportunities to become an important part of our growth plans in London, Cambridge, Reading & High Wycombe.
This is your chance to:
- Form and lead multidisciplinary project teams while coordinating design and project delivery.
- Work on exciting, transformational water projects that push boundaries and make a significant impact on improving the local environment.
- Partner with top water clients across the UK, shaping the future of the industry.
We're a leading engineering consultancy with ambitious growth aspirations, building on our hugely successful track record. Our water business is brimming with opportunities, and you'll be at the forefront, tackling iconic projects. Here's what sets us apart:
- We prioritise the local communities in which we work – designing solutions that minimise environmental impact and maximise social benefits.
- We champion sustainable development, delivering infrastructure projects that adapt to the impacts of climate change.
As a Design Lead, you will coordinate upfront design and project delivery, working closely with Project Managers and technical experts across our multidisciplinary teams. You will play a fundamental role in identifying innovative and sustainable solutions, while working collaboratively with our internal and client teams. You will also be responsible for ensuring we deliver best value and client service excellence, monitoring the quality, compliance, and efficiency of project deliverables.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and implementation of principles to improve health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes in project design.
- Ensuring technical resources are assigned and supported.
- Contributing toward the development of marketing and business development activity.
As the leading water engineering consultancy in the UK&I, we are working with multiple clients in the southeast, supporting them in the delivery of their AMP8 regulatory commitments. Our projects span across the entire water cycle and include water treatment and networks, wastewater treatment, wastewater networks, flooding, and urban drainage. In addition, we are also delivering, in full collaboration with our regional client base, some of the most transformative water projects of a generation. These projects, which are being delivered via the regulator's gated process, will ensure that water companies in the southeast are well-placed to deal with the long-term impacts of climate change and population growth.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a passion for solving engineering problems, the ability to lead and inspire, and the confidence to drive through challenging solutions. You will have experience working in a similar role within the water sector or other relevant regulated industry. You will also be a degree-qualified (or equivalent) engineer and ideally be chartered, or a member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., ICE). Support can be given to achieve this if required. We have opportunities for differing levels of seniority, so if you are looking to develop your leadership career, we'll support you on your journey.
