About The Role
Our geo team works closely with other disciplines across Stantec to support clients through every stage of the planning, design and construction process.
We provide expertise in the design and management of site investigations, interpretation of field data, desk studies, interpretative reporting, hydrogeological and geotechnical assessments, and pre-tender and construction phase support.

Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering technical assessments and practical engineering solutions while supporting the successful delivery of projects across a variety of sectors.
You will also have opportunities to develop your project management skills, work directly with clients and contractors, and contribute to the continued growth of our geo team.
- YOUR IMPACT
- In This Role, You Will
- Design, supervise and manage ground investigations.
- Undertake and review geo-environmental and geotechnical assessments.
- Interpret ground investigation data and develop practical geotechnical and land contamination solutions.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, including Desk Studies, Ground Investigation Reports and Coal Mining Risk Assessments.
- Schedule and manage geotechnical and chemical laboratory testing.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and sub-consultants to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
- Provide technical advice throughout the planning, design and construction process.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams across infrastructure and the built environment.
- Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of the team.
- Help drive innovation through modern analysis techniques and sustainable design approaches while building trusted client relationships.
About You
You will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or a related discipline, with a minimum of five years’ relevant postgraduate experience.
You’ll also be working towards Chartership with a relevant professional institution, such as the Institution of Environmental Sciences or the Geological Society of London.

- Consultancy experience, or a combination of consultancy and contractor experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant UK standards, including BS 5930, BS 10175, EA LC: RM guidance, Eurocodes and NHBC Standards.
- Experience supervising, reporting and managing geo-environmental assignments.
- Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to interpret ground investigation data to produce clear, practical recommendations.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements relating to ground investigations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets, programmes and competing priorities.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering value for clients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
- A proactive, self‑motivated attitude and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
