The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a passion for creating sustainable solutions? Join Stantec and help us tackle the urgent climate, environmental, and efficiency challenges facing our communities! AMP8 is an exciting time for the water industry and for Stantec\’s role within it. With record levels of investment and our ongoing growth plans in the region, there is plenty of opportunity within our engineering teams. We are now seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the South West and Midlands to support our important work for United Utilities. You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. You will lead mechanical design for infrastructure & non-infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations and more. You will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes. You will also be involved in the mentorship and guidance of more junior engineers within the team.

About You

You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject, ideally holding Chartered status or working toward it. You will have previous experience working in detailed design within the water industry, and a background working for or with delivery contractors would also be beneficial. For the right candidate, there will also be opportunities to take on line‑management responsibilities, so experience in this area will be considered. You will also be involved in the mentorship and guidance of more junior engineers within the team.
