The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Principal or Technical Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team, primarily based in our Northampton office, although Birmingham could also be considered as a location. This is a genuine opportunity to play a key role in shaping and leading our geotechnical presence, take ownership, influence direction, and be part of a growing success story across the Midlands.
About The Role
You’ll take on a leading position within our Northampton team, acting as the focal point for geotechnical expertise locally while being supported by a wider Midlands team of 30+ geotechnical specialists and a national division of around 100. Working under the leadership of Paul Eastwood, Geo Regional Director for the Midlands, you’ll be responsible for delivering high‑quality geotechnical solutions across a diverse range of projects.
Your Role Will Include:
- Leading and delivering ground investigations and geotechnical designs
- Developing robust ground models
- Producing clear, high‑quality interpretive reports
- Designing geotechnical structures including foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures and ground improvement solutions
- Acting as a technical leader and growing the geotechnical capability within the Birmingham team
About You
You’re an experienced geotechnical engineer with strong UK consultancy experience and a passion for delivering high‑quality work.
You’ll Bring:
- Proven experience scoping and delivering geotechnical investigations and designs
- Strong ground modelling and interpretive reporting skills
- Experience designing a range of geotechnical structures
- Confidence working independently and leading technical delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (BEng, BSc or higher)
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body
