Shape the Future of Water: NEC Site Supervisor Location: North East England (Covering Northumbrian Water Region)

Are you a technical expert with a keen eye for detail and knowledge and experience of the NEC contract suite? Stantec is looking for a driven NEC Site Supervisor to join our industry-leading Water team. In this role, you’ll be the client’s representative on site, supporting project delivery by monitoring and reporting on the contractor’s compliance with the contract, client’s specifications and standards as well as health, safety and environmental requirements. With sites based throughout the Northumbrian Water operating region, you’ll ensure that every project is delivered to the highest standards of engineering excellence.

As an integral part of our North East delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring that works are executed in strict accordance with the Project Scope and in accordance with the NEC contract.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site visits and inspections of construction activities, materials and workmanship to verify quality and conformity with the contract. Witness tests and inspections to ensure compliance with quality management and inspection and test plans.
  • Defect Management: Identify, record and notify Defects as per the requirements of the NEC contract. Maintain an accurate and up to date Defect register and support resolution of Defects by providing accurate records and evidence.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the vital link between the Project Manager, the Contractor, and our client, Northumbrian Water as well as other key stakeholders. Attend meetings as requested including Progress, liaison, commission and design review meetings.
  • Site Presence: Travel across the North East region to various operational water and wastewater sites, maintaining a high-profile presence during construction and commissioning activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive site records, diaries, photographs and production of weekly site reports to provide a clear audit trail of progress and compliance.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a professional who is as comfortable navigating a construction site as they are navigating contract clauses.

  • NEC Expertise: A deep, practical understanding of NEC4 contracts (specifically the role of the Supervisor). NEC Supervisor Accreditation is highly desirable, or you’ll have the ability to achieve accreditation (with support).
  • Water Industry: Experience within the water sector (Clean Water or Wastewater) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Credibility: Ideally, you hold an HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) or have extensive equivalent site experience as well as an understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and Health & safety training.
  • Communication: The ability to be firm but fair, resolving issues on-site while maintaining strong professional relationships and excellent site records.

You must have a valid UK driving license and a willingness to travel to diverse sites across the North East.
