Opportunity: We're expanding our Geo Division in Newcastle and are seeking a Geotechnical Consultant or Geoenvironmental Consultant to join us. This role offers career progression and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across sectors such as renewables, defence, commercial, and residential.
About the Role: Our geo team collaborates closely with other disciplines across Stantec to support clients through the planning and construction process. Responsibilities include:
- Design and management of site investigations
- Producing health and safety documentation
- Supervising fieldwork
- Overseeing hydrogeological and geotechnical assessments
- Interpreting data
- Developing practical design solutions
You will support project delivery across infrastructure and the built environment.
Your Impact: In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Design and management of site investigations

- Developing design solutions for geotechnics and land contamination
You will build trusted relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, ensure projects meet programme, budget and quality standards, mentor junior engineers, contribute to business development, and drive innovation through modern analysis techniques and sustainable design approaches.
About You: Post-graduate experience in a consultancy or contractor-based role. Working knowledge of UK standards (e.g. BS5930, BS10175), industry guidance (e.g. EA LC:RM), Eurocodes and NHBC standards. Ability to soil and log samples in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020. Supervision, reporting and management of geo-environmental assignments. Scheduling chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing. Monitoring gas and groundwater levels and sampling. Liaison with sub-contractors and clients to deliver projects. Technical report writing including desk studies, ground investigation reports and coal mining risk assessments. Interpretation of ground investigation data and production of clear, practical design recommendations. Good understanding of health and safety requirements for ground investigations. Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Proactive, independent thinker with enthusiasm for work. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Full UK driving licence. Project management skills with the ability to manage priorities, budgets and deadlines. Effective communicator with confidence liaising with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. Commercial awareness and ability to deliver value to clients. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Qualifications: Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline. Working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution such as the Institution of Environmental Science or the Geological Society of London.
