Your Opportunity: As a Senior Transit Project Engineer, you will play a key technical and delivery leadership role on complex transit and rail projects across Edmonton, Alberta, and Western Canada. Working within a multidisciplinary transit team, you will support public‑sector clients such as the City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, TransLink, and Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors in planning, designing, and delivering major transit infrastructure that improves regional mobility and community outcomes.

You will contribute senior technical expertise across the full project lifecycle, from early planning and preliminary engineering through detailed design and construction support while working closely with project managers, discipline leads, and client stakeholders. This role blends hands‑on technical leadership with project management support, client engagement, and mentoring of junior staff, making it well‑suited for an experienced engineer seeking to influence the successful delivery of high‑profile transit programs.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior technical leadership on transit and rail projects, including LRT, BRT, stations, corridors, and supporting civil infrastructure.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated, high‑quality engineering solutions across all phases of project delivery.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of technical deliverables, including drawings, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and construction support documentation.
  • Support project management responsibilities by contributing to scope definition, work planning, schedule development, and budget tracking; proactively managing technical inputs to change control and ensuring alignment between engineering delivery and overall project objectives.
  • Interface closely with project managers, project controls, and commercial teams to manage technical risk, interfaces, and integration issues across disciplines and systems.
  • Serve as a senior technical point of contact with clients, supporting agencies such as the City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, TransLink, and Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and integration challenges, including constructability, staging, adjacent development interfaces, and coordination with third‑party stakeholders.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and design optimization during preliminary and detailed design phases.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, owner requirements, and internal quality management and HSSE practices.
  • Mentor and guide intermediate and junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑performing team environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by applying lessons learned, promoting innovation, and supporting pursuit and business development activities as needed.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation or transit projects for public‑sector agencies.
  • Strong understanding of project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality management.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive client relationships; an established network with major transit agencies in Alberta is considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi‑organization project teams.
  • Experience supporting business development and pursuit activities, including technical inputs to proposals, is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in transportation or transit project delivery.
  • Professional Engineer (PEng) license in Alberta, or eligibility and ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
