We’re looking for a talented Bid Writer to join our Central Bid Team, playing a key role in securing exciting opportunities across our Infrastructure and Buildings business. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Senior Bid Writer and Head of Bids, contributing to high-quality, compelling submissions that help win impactful projects. About the Role

The Bid Writer will play a pivotal role in developing clear, compelling, and customer focused content that strengthens our bid submissions and helps secure exciting opportunities across the business. Working collaboratively with bid managers, technical specialists, and subject matter experts, you’ll transform complex technical information into persuasive, high scoring bid responses that reflect Stantec’s values, brand, and tone of voice. You’ll take a hands‑on role in live bids, writing high-quality responses from the ground up, shaping winning themes, and ensuring client priorities are woven throughout every submission. Beyond supporting live opportunities, you’ll partner with the Senior Bid Writer to enhance bid writing capability across the business. This includes championing best practice, supporting training initiatives, and helping to build and maintain a library of high-quality bid content resources. Your Impact

  • Plan, structure and write high quality, customer focused bid responses, including drafting answers from scratch and articulating complex technical solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Work with Bid Managers and technical leads to develop and embed value propositions, win themes and client priorities throughout submissions.
  • Edit, refine and challenge draft content to improve clarity, flow, compliance and impact, testing drafts against evaluation criteria and rewriting where needed.
  • Apply Plain English principles and strong narrative techniques to increase evaluator engagement and improve overall readability.

Content Creation & Management

  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the central Bid Content Library.
  • Capture, quality check and maintain approved, high scoring content, keeping it current and clearly signposted so bid teams can access and reuse it confidently.
  • Work collaboratively with Central Bid Team members, Bidding Teams and Subject Matter Experts to support consistency and reuse of strong written material across bids.

Continuous Improvement & Education

  • Promote best practice bid writing principles across the business, including effective storyboarding, structured responses and robust review processes.
  • Support the delivery of Bid Writing Masterclasses and targeted training for technical and non‑writer audiences.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to contributors to strengthen writing quality and build confidence.
  • Actively pursue on‑going professional development to stay current with industry trends and best practice.

About You

  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading high quality content in a bid environment.
  • Ability to turn complex technical input into clear and persuasive bid responses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with active checking of detail, structure and tone to maintain consistency across full submissions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with confidence to engage technical and non technical stakeholders and contribute effectively within bid teams.
  • Highly organised and proactive, able to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and take ownership of allocated bid sections.
  • Experience contributing to, or managing, bid content libraries is advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of bid writing best practice; APMP qualification desirable.
  • Proactive, approachable and a logical team player, with confidence to challenge and escalate issues where needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn and adapt to new systems and tools.
