Stantec is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our growing UK-wide Ecology team. This role focuses on supporting water utility frameworks in the South East of the UK, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and leading a talented and enthusiastic ecological team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex ecological issues within project contexts.
- Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams, including the UK-wide Ecology team and water utilities.
- Support existing partnership with water utilities and pursue new opportunities.
- Mentor staff, engage with clients, and support bids and tenders to grow project diversity.
- Shape the future of ecological aspirations and oversee expansion of our ecological presence in the region.
- Build a successful team, secure opportunities for growth, and implement best practices.
Qualifications
- Seasoned ecologist with extensive professional consultancy experience.
- Deep knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, including protected species licensing.
- Experience conducting PEAs, ECIAs, ecological chapters, and HRA contributions.
- Familiarity with UKHab classification and the Defra Metric.
- Ability to craft compelling fee proposals and manage project budgets.
- Experience winning work and developing teams is a bonus.
- Passion for ecology and expertise are essential.
