Securing a resilient, sustainable water supply for the future is more urgent than ever. At Stantec, our Water Resources team plays a central role in meeting that challenge. From Strategic Resource Option investigations to Water Resource Management Plans and Drought Plans, we work with water companies, regulators and stakeholders to deliver solutions that will matter for generations to come. The team is growing and we are looking for experienced water resources professionals who want to be part of it.

We have opportunities across a number of UK offices including Leeds, Birmingham, Reading and Shrewsbury, with other locations considered for the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of water resource projects across WRMPs, Drought Plans, WINEP investigations and water resource modelling using tools such as Pywr, Aquator and Miser.
  • Apply strong numerical skills to hydrological analysis, contribute to technical reporting and collaborate flexibly across our wider Water and Environment department, working alongside groundwater, water quality and flood risk teams.
  • Develop expertise in demand management and environmental assessments including HRA, SEA and WFD.
  • Your analytical thinking and technical skills will help water companies and regulators make better, more confident decisions.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in the water industry, whether from a consultancy, water company, regulatory body or academic background.
  • Solid grasp of UK water resource management and drought planning regulations, and practical experience contributing to WRMPs, drought plans or regional strategies.
  • Comfortable with hydrological analysis using tools such as Excel, HYSIM or GR6J, proficient in GIS and ideally have direct experience with water resources modelling tools such as Pywr, Miser or Aquator.
  • Strong numerical skills and a willingness to keep learning.
  • Thrive in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Curious, collaborative and motivated by the idea that your work leaves the water environment in a better state than you found it.
