Join Stantec's specialist Hydraulic Engineering team and help solve some of the most technically challenging problems facing the UK water industry. Working across nationally significant water frameworks, you will deliver complex hydraulic studies that support the safe, reliable and sustainable operation of critical infrastructure.

As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you will lead the technical delivery of hydraulic engineering studies, applying your expertise to support the design, assessment and optimisation of water infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver steady‑state and transient hydraulic studies across water infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake hydraulic analysis using specialist software such as Hades, Varism, Flow 3D, or equivalent.
  • Produce high‑quality technical reports and engineering recommendations.
  • Support the design and assessment of hydraulic structures and pipeline systems.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued development of technical capability across the team.

Your work will directly influence the resilience and performance of essential water infrastructure. From preventing pipeline failures through pressure transient analysis to optimising hydraulic structures that will operate for decades, your technical expertise will help clients make informed engineering decisions that protect communities, improve operational efficiency and support sustainable infrastructure investment across the UK.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience delivering hydraulic engineering studies within the UK water sector.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulic principles.
  • Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as Hades, Varism, Flow 3D or similar.
  • Strong technical reporting and analytical skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable
  • Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
