The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Geo-Environmental / Geo-Technical Engineer in our Cambridge office, where you will be part of our multidisciplinary Environmental Services team.
About The Role
As a Graduate Geo-Environmental / Geo-Technical Consultant, you will join an established, close-knit ground engineering team embedded within a wider multidisciplinary office. You will work on a dynamic portfolio of projects across the UK, supporting our Infrastructure & Buildings, Water, Energy, and Environmental Services business units. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering solutions for major water infrastructure programmes, brownfield urban regeneration schemes, commercial developments, and transport infrastructure projects. Working directly with our national ground engineering specialists and external clients, you will gain hands‑on experience across the entire project lifecycle—from site investigation through to design and construction delivery.
- Analysing geological, geo‑environmental, and geotechnical data.
- Delivering ground investigations and supporting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
- Assessing foundations, slope stability, and earthworks, as well as creating ground models.
- Conducting contaminated land risk assessments and developing remediation strategies.
- Monitoring fieldworks and designing/reporting on foundations, retaining walls, soil slope stability, earthworks, and rock slope stabilization.
- Utilizing numerical analysis software and collaborating with other technical experts on multidisciplinary design and construction projects.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. We will provide a structured professional progression plan supporting you to achieve professional chartership status (CGeol, CEng, CSci, or CEnv) with relevant bodies such as The Geological Society of London (GSL), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES), the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), or the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3).
Your Impact
In this role, your everyday technical work will directly influence the safety, stability, and environmental sustainability of critical UK infrastructure. By evaluating ground risks, designing resilient foundations, and restoring brownfield environments, you will help our clients achieve net‑zero targets and deliver lasting, positive outcomes for local communities.
About You
At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or Environmental Science that is accredited by a relevant professional body (such as The Geological Society, ICE, IES, or CIWEM), you will be:
