The Opportunity

Join our 2027 (Autumn) Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Newcastle office, where you will be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

You'll be part of a local team of 8 engineers, ranging from graduates through to experienced professionals, creating a supportive environment where learning and development are encouraged. Day-to-day, you'll have access to guidance from senior engineers and mentors who can provide technical support, advice, and coaching as you develop your skills and experience. The team works closely with colleagues in the Leeds office as part of the wider North East Region, providing opportunities to collaborate across offices and disciplines, as well as interacting regularly with multidisciplinary teams from across the business.

You'll support the delivery of a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors, including retail, manufacturing, logistics, education, healthcare, leisure, and heritage projects.

About The Role

You'll work alongside experienced engineers within the team, supporting the development and delivery of MEP engineering designs across a variety of projects and sectors. Responsibilities will include assisting with calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, modelling, and the coordination of design information throughout the project lifecycle. There is a strong focus on considering value engineering and health and safety throughout.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a knowledge of AutoCAD (ideally Civils 3D) would be beneficial, and a keen interest in working in the Buildings sector, you'll be:

  • An Adapter - You’re able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • An Eager Learner - You learn from your experiences and the world around you, using this knowledge to anticipate how situations may unfold.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver - You love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.

Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.
