The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Manchester office, where you will be involved in significant projects across our water division from day one, supporting both local and national work. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will join the Manchester Civils team, which forms part of a wider Civil and Structural team in the Manchester office and an integrated multidisciplinary Buildings team across the region. You will work on a wide variety of projects in the North West, with close links to teams in other offices supporting national schemes. The team covers the full scope of civil design and construction supervision across a range of projects, from site acquisition, pre-planning and concept design through to planning, tender, construction and the first year of operation. Project sectors include industrial, residential and municipal work, including logistics and distribution, manufacturing, data centres, masterplanning, education and healthcare.
About The Role
Working as part of a friendly and collaborative project team, with support and guidance from Senior and Principal Civil Engineers, you will help solve engineering problems and support civil engineering design across all stages of project delivery. Your work will include producing calculations, drawings and technical documents, attending meetings and taking opportunities to visit construction sites. Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting the civil engineering team across a wide range of project stages and sectors.
- Producing engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
- Contributing to civil design work from concept and planning through to tender, construction and early operation.
- Attending project and design meetings, contributing ideas and learning from experienced colleagues.
- Taking opportunities to visit construction sites and build practical understanding of design delivery.
- Developing your technical capability by learning a variety of civil engineering software and design approaches.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE chartership.
Your Impact
This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities by supporting civil engineering projects that shape the built environment across the North West and nationally. Your work will contribute to practical, sustainable and well-coordinated infrastructure solutions across sectors including industrial, residential, education and healthcare.
