The UK energy sector is experiencing a transformative period. With increasing demand, stringent regulations, and ambitious net-zero targets, innovation is at the forefront. This is your opportunity to be a part of this exciting journey.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to join Stantec’s Energy & Resources Team, working across four main sectors:
- Waterpower and Dams
- Waste and Generation
- Transmission and Distribution
- Minerals and Resources
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to work on a range of projects across all work sectors and project stages from concept design to detailed design and site support. This role offers a chance to significantly contribute to the UK's energy transition. You will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team working on cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions as varied as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales, as well as other wider energy projects across energy from waste (such as Advanced Digestion plants and heat recovery systems), nuclear, hydrogen generation, and transmission and distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, and clients to achieve positive project outcomes.
- Engage in traditional advisory roles, Owner’s Engineer duties, client-facing concept design, contractor-facing detailed design, remediation, troubleshooting, installation support, and Lender’s Engineer/insurance/due diligence support.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about sustainable energy and eager to make a significant impact in the industry.
About You:
You will ideally be qualified with a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, and you will be on route to professional registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and ICE. We are looking for individuals with experience in civil design over some or all of the following sectors:
- Waterpower and Dams
- Hydro and/or pumped storage hydro schemes
- Advanced Digestion
- Energy from Waste plants
- Transmission and Distribution projects
You will have a good understanding of how the various disciplines within the sector come together to create an integrated solution. You will be experienced in producing technical specifications, designs, and reports, integrating closely with associated disciplines including structures, geotechnical, and M&E, and ideally, with experience in preparing designs for both end user clients and D&B contractors. You should be comfortable working within a full 3D environment using appropriate tools to sketch and review models and within a common data environment.
Most importantly, you will embody and support our values of client focus, designing with community in mind, collaboration, and service excellence. With offices in multiple locations across the UK, the role can be based in any of our offices, with a preference to be Edinburgh, Newcastle, Redditch, or High Wycombe. You will be a pro-active individual with knowledge and understanding of the Energy Sector.
