The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Leeds office, where you will support the delivery of major water-sector projects for high-profile clients, including Yorkshire Water. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will join a local team of around 25 to 30 people and work as part of an integrated regional team of around 150 supporting the Yorkshire Water framework. You will collaborate closely with CAD, geotechnical, hydraulic modelling, structural, planning and environmental colleagues to develop well-rounded solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Solving engineering problems and supporting the development of practical water-sector solutions.
  • Using design software and engineering skills to carry out calculations and design work.
  • Working closely with data, including using tools such as Excel to identify trends and patterns.
  • Collaborating with CAD, geotechnical, hydraulic modelling, structural, planning and environmental colleagues.
  • Communicating with clients, colleagues and wider stakeholders to help keep projects moving.
  • Taking opportunities to attend meetings and site visits to gather information and build practical project understanding.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE and/or CIWEM chartership.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting Yorkshire Water and other water-sector projects that respond to the challenges facing the industry. Your work will contribute to cleaner water environments, storm overflow improvements and the development of optimised solutions using the TOTEX and carbon reduction hierarchies.

About you:

  • An Adapter - You're able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver - You love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that colleagues are able to provide the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
