The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller in our Newcastle office, where you will be part of a specialist modelling team supporting water sector projects that help reduce flooding, improve storm overflow performance and deliver more resilient wastewater networks. Working with experienced colleagues across our Newcastle team and wider modelling capability in Pune, you will contribute to a broad range of wastewater network modelling projects. The team supports storm overflows, Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans, SOAF and other WINEP projects, alongside Northumbrian Water flooding programmes and other modelling work.

About The Role

As a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller, you will support project delivery while developing your hydraulic modelling, analysis and solution development skills. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting ongoing project work across storm overflow, DWMP, SOAF, WINEP and flooding programmes.
  • Building, analysing and updating hydraulic models to help assess wastewater network performance.
  • Undertaking scenario testing and contributing to option development for network improvements.
  • Opportunity to develop experience with hydraulic modelling software, such as InfoWorks ICM, and GIS analysis in ArcGIS Pro and FME, amongst others.
  • Developing technical outputs, documentation and analysis to support project delivery and client reporting.
  • Working collaboratively with local and wider teams to deliver modelling support across multiple programmes.
  • Taking responsibility for your own work with support from experienced colleagues and mentors.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification routes for this role are ICE or CIWEM.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that improve wastewater network performance, reduce flooding and support storm overflow improvements. By building and analysing hydraulic models, you will help clients understand current and future network challenges, test potential solutions and make informed decisions that support more resilient and sustainable water infrastructure. Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
