Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Electrical Engineer in our Newcastle office, where you will be part of our Water team and support the delivery of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation solutions across water and wastewater projects. The successful candidate will support work across storm overflows, Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans, Storm Overflow Assessment Framework projects, WINEP programmes, the Northumbrian Water flooding programme and wider modelling support. You’ll have the chance to make a positive impact on the environment through sustainable engineering solutions, working on water and wastewater projects that help clients improve performance, reduce environmental impact and strengthen resilience. These projects will give you the exposure needed to broaden your understanding of the water industry and develop your technical capability.
Alongside the wider Water team, you will support project delivery and develop your understanding of how engineering, modelling and data-led analysis contribute to practical solutions for clients. Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting ongoing project work across storm overflows, DWMP, SOAF, WINEP and flooding-related programmes.
- Contributing to model build, analysis, solution development and scenario testing.
- Working with colleagues across engineering, modelling and design teams to coordinate technical inputs and support project delivery.
- Developing your understanding of hydraulic modelling, GIS analysis and digital tools used within the water industry.
- Building your technical capability through project work, collaboration, training and structured graduate development.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. This role will support professional development through project-based learning, structured graduate development and opportunities to work towards an appropriate professional route within the water sector.
This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting water and wastewater projects that reduce storm overflow impacts, manage flooding risk, improve environmental performance and strengthen long-term resilience for clients and communities across Newcastle, the North East and beyond.
At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with your Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and a keen interest in the water industry, we’d love to receive your application if you are:
- An adapter: you’re able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
- A Perseverer: you stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
- A Collaborator: you work effectively with lots of different people, considering other’s perspectives to shape better outcomes.
- A Problem-Solver: you love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.
Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
What we can offer you:
- A competitive salary
- Private medical insurance
- A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
- Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
- Professional progression plan, supporting you to gain professional chartership
- A supportive and collaborative team environment and Early Careers peer group and wider ERG network
